With over a decade of dedicated experience as a school counselor, my journey has been centered around collaborating with families and children aged 5 to 20, hailing from diverse backgrounds. Specializing in the intricate realms of neuroscience, executive function, and trauma-informed approaches, I've channeled my expertise towards guiding parents and adults through the intricacies of a neurotypical world that might not always align with their unique attributes.
Having traversed the education landscape extensively, and having walked the path of being neurodivergent myself while raising neurodivergent children, my fervor lies in aiding individuals to adeptly maneuver within environments and systems initially not attuned to their specific requirements. My foundation in Psychology was laid at the University of Northern Colorado, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree. This was followed by pursuing a Masters of Education in Counseling at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and I further honed my insight with a certificate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver. My unwavering commitment remains: empowering parents and adults to confidently navigate a world that celebrates diversity in minds and experiences.
Living in a neurotypical world with a neurodivergent brain is hard. It feels like pushing a boulder up a hill - only it doesn't matter how far up the hill you get, you always end up back at the bottom, watching other people push their boulders up, seemingly with ease. Parenting while neurodivergent or parenting a neurodivergent child can feel the same way. It's important to know that you aren't alone and there isn't something wrong with you.
My goal is to offer a safe, neurodivergent affirming environment where you can learn about how the brain functions & how you can use that knowledge to build functional skills and practices that work best for you. My role is to function as a facilitator in the growth and learning process by using a therapeutic lens and approaches during my time with clients.
During our time together, you as the client are in the drivers seat. My goal is for you to learn skills necessary to function at school, work, and with those you love in ways that are authentic, meaningful, and successful for you. You as my client determine the goals of our time together. My role is to help design our time together to get you where you want to be.
